Music Man at the Marriott Theatre

I had the honor of working with Broadway’s Katie Spelman on The Music Man at Marriott Theatre in Chicago. Led by Al Silber (Fiddler on the Roof, Master Class) and KJ Hippensteel (Book of Mormon, Some Like it Hot, Queen of Versailles), this whole cast and production was an absolute dream. What was so special about this production, captured beautifully by the words of Al in an Interview with BroadwayWorlds’s Joshua Wright, was our director, Katie Spelman is attempting “to lead us all to do is envision and embody an America that was and an America that could be, when the best of us comes together as a community.” It’s not just about a man bamboozling a town for their money, it’s about bringing a town back to color in the wake of a sepia past. It’s about Marian, CHOOSING to love Harold Hill for all he has done for her and her family, and her journey “to fully appreciate how courageous a thing it is to allow yourself to be loved, and of course: love’s utterly transformative power on the other side of all that terror.”
